Embedor Technologies was established in 2014 to commercialize the founders’ research on wireless sensors technologies for structure monitoring. Embedor is based in Champaign, Illinois. Leveraging early equity-free funding and the support infrastructure available through the EnterpriseWorks technology incubator at the University of Illinois, Embedor became one of five startups, and the only one outside the state of California, to be competitively selected for Cisco Systems’ 2015 Entrepreneur-in-Residence program. Working with Cisco’s engineers and business experts, Embedor was able to refine its technology and business case, bringing its first product, the Xnode Smart Sensor, to market in December 2016. Xnodes currently monitor several bridges, a large retail building, and the world’s largest Ferris wheel.

Embedor is a pioneer in smart sensor technology for civil infrastructure monitoring leveraging the expertise of its founders in synchronized wireless sensing and structural engineering technologies. Embedor’s mission is to transform the way civil infrastructure is maintained: from periodic inspections and reactive damage mitigation to always-on monitoring and preventive maintenance.

Embedor Technologies provides wireless monitoring systems for rapid and continuing structural condition assessment of civil infrastructure and heavy machinery including:

  • Bridges
  • Buildings
  • Unique Structures (Ferris Wheels, Stadium Roofs)
  • Construction equipment (Cranes, Scaffolding)

Embedor Technologies has built smart sensor technology that delivers meaningful information and not just data. Our products offer a cost-effective alternative to wired sensors and can be used to supplement and enhance visual inspections.

Embedor’s sensors give near real-time insight into a structure’s condition. This enables asset owners and engineering firms to make informed decisions regarding the operation and maintenance of structures.

  • Early warning of potential damage from extreme events such as earthquakes, hurricanes.
  • Detect long-term deterioration from corrosion, stress fractures, etc.
